Gary Stroutsos on Arizona Spotlight

The November 13 edition of Arizona Spotlight on Arizona Public Media features an interview with Gary Stroutsos. Watch it here.

Since getting his first recording in 1966, Gary Stroutsos has been living a dream of music. Influenced by jazz trailblazers Herbie Mann and Paul Horn, Stroutsos found his voice in one of the world's oldest instruments, the flute, and through that has built a connection with music and traditions. The film Öngtupqa, about the Hopi people's connection to the Grand Canyon and featuring music by Stroutsos, will screen at The Loft Cinema on November 17 at 4:30 p.m. Öngtupqa is also available to stream on AZPM Passport, and Stroutsos pays tribute to Paul Horn at the San Pedro Chapel on East Fort Lowell Road on November 18 at 5 p.m.
